AI-Aided Printed Line Smearing Analysis of the Roll-to-Roll Screen Printing Process for Printed Electronics

Abstract Screen printing has been adopted for fabricating a wide variety of electronic devices. However, the defects and reliability have an obstacle industrialization printed electronics. In this research, artificial intelligence (AI) model was developed integrated with in-house roll-to-roll screen system to detect smearing defect, which is one main printing. The U-Net architecture adopted, total 19 models were designed sizes ranging from 8E + 3 3E 7 number parameters. Their performances as validation mean Intersection over Union (IoU) analyzed, optimal chosen IoU 95.1% parameters 6. line images evaluated by AI various conditions, such widths, paste premixing, speeds, directions, showed that could effectively defects. Also, capabilities investigated repeated printing, demonstrated it can be used assessment process.
